That one time in Shenandoah...
When you work in a National park visitor center you often get good intel as to where the wildlife is and when you also happen to be a photographer, that's a pretty nice job perk!
With such uncertainty of what lies ahead for our National Parks, I found myself looking through my photos of my 2024 season this morning and reminiscing about happier times.
I had just recently returned from a trip to Oregon and my coworker messaged me to tell me to make sure that I brought my camera to work. She told me that a family had spotted some baby foxes right up the road from the visitor center in the morning and she could tell me exactly where!
I returned to work the next day and on my 15 minute afternoon break, camera in hand, I walked to the location that she had given me. I wasn't really expecting to see anything, after all wildlife rarely stays in one place for very long. I stood gazing at the rocks for a moment and up popped a furry little head just feet from where I stood! And then there were two more! I wish I could have gotten them all together but I was only able to get one at a time before they vanished back into the rocks. I'm not complaining though, I was delighted just to see them and get a photograph as a bonus! Moments like these truly feel like precous gifts from nature and it’s an honor when she reveals them to you.
